Dr. Robert Kania is Professor of Music and Chair of the Music Department at Judson University, where he teaches music theory, ear training, orchestration, music history courses, piano, and directs the Judson Civic Orchestra. An experienced pianist, organist, conductor, and music educator, Robert holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and brings many years of experience in church music, higher education, and community music-making. Originally from Poland, he has been married to his wonderful wife, Maria, an accomplished soprano and professor of voice, for 32 years, and together they have four children. In his free time, Robert enjoys running and spending time with his family. He is deeply grateful for the opportunity to join Atonement as Traditional Worship Director and cannot wait to serve Jesus alongside the congregation.

Dan Patten serves as Director of Contemporary Worship at Atonement, bringing more than 30 years of experience in music, live production, and church ministry. A keyboardist and vocalist, Dan has extensive experience performing professionally as well as leading and working with volunteer musicians. He holds an engineering degree and an MBA and brings a unique combination of musical, technical, and leadership experience to worship ministry.

Dan and his wife, Dawn, have two children, Mikayla and Josh. In his free time, he enjoys performing with several bands, working with audio and music technology, and spending time with his family. Dan is grateful for the opportunity to serve at Atonement and is passionate about creating contemporary worship that is welcoming, engaging, and centered on helping people connect with God and one another.

Cheryl has spent the past 20 years as a public school teacher, and before that, she served as a Youth Director. She always loved working with kids and families, helping them grow in their faith and discover how much God loves them. Cheryl earned her bachelor’s degree from Purdue University, where she also met her husband, Mike, and later earned her master’s in Leadership from Roosevelt University.

Mike and Cheryl have three grown children who are each married and building families of their own. They are blessed with five sweet granddaughters and are excited to be welcoming another grandchild soon! Family and faith are at the center of Cheryl's life, and she is extremely grateful for every opportunity to walk alongside children and families, growing together in God’s love.
