WORSHIP
Worship is the center of our spiritual life. Worship brings us all together to grow in understanding and practice of how we ‘love and serve with Jesus.’ Worship allows us the safe space to practice our faith.
LIFE TOGETHER
Faith grows when we experience the love and grace of God with and through other people. Growth happens in this area when we develop friendships where we feel comfortable talking about faith and encouraging one another in our faith journey.
GENEROSITY
‘Loving one another’ as Jesus teaches means investing in one another. We invest time and energy in building friendships and community. We make financial investment in the community in order to support the work of God in our own church, the Chicago area and the world.
SPIRITUAL PRACTICES
Faith grows when we do our own work. In Sunday worship, we learn and practice praying, reflecting on scripture, sharing God’s peace, and being a loving community like Jesus. Growth in this area happens when we take what we learn on Sunday into daily prayer and devotions on our own.
BIBLICAL ENGAGEMENT
Growing in knowledge and understanding of the Bible and theology is important – Faith grows when things make sense. Growth in this area will happen through attending worship, Bible studies and other educational opportunities.
SERVING OTHERS
Faith should make a real difference in the world—faith should have action. Each of us is uniquely gifted to serve in Jesus’ name and our faith will grow when we serve. It may be serving in worship through our gifts of music, reading, or serving with altar care. Or it may be going on a mission trip or helping to lead a food or clothing drive.
